The train runs right through the Funk Zone, stopping at State st.  The same train connects art and wine lovers to our business district full of art studios, urban wine tasting rooms, and sweet shops and galleries in SB.  Photographer James Todd and I were frolicking around the train tracks in the Funk Zone the other day as the SB sun was setting.

Gettin’ Nasty : CMND-Z + NastyGal

For this week’s look, I finally got to wear my new leather rebel moto shorts courtesy of NastyGal! They were the perfect badass piece I’ve been dying to pair with my CMND-Z “Beautiful Warrior” Hot Tank. The fusion of these two powerful pieces in addition to my suede wedges from LF roused my witty, invincible side.  Time to Shit Kick and take names in this ensemble.

Bougainvillea Daze

The Look of the Week:  CMND-Z’s “Evolution Calendar” Bamboo Wrap top, CMND-Z bamboo hot shorts, shoes from Crossroads, bracelet from Tropicali.  I wore our new bamboo hot shorts to the beach last Sunday and they were so comfortable.  Bamboo all around in fact.  That is what we are gearing up for in the Fall Collection.  All bamboo, everything!  We are now expanding the line from printed tees, to skirts, dresses, shorts, all kinds of beautiful things.  And if you own any of our wrap tops, you know how amazing that bamboo fabric is.  We will be launching the new Fall Line, “The Equinox,” at our Fashion Show in SB Sept 22.  So we will keep you posted.

May the Golden Owl Guide You

This week’s look is centered around my Hot Tank.  This super light weight organic cotton tank is perfect to wear over bikini tops and other playful tanks and bra tops.  The sides are super low and it exposes your mid section for a more provocative dramatic look.  The print on this particular tank is “The Golden Owl,” one of my favorites.  The mermaid comes from one of my oil paintings.  The golden owl headdress comes from a shaman story of a young man who goes on his life journey and accumulates an arsenal of power and magic to get him safely through his path.  The golden owl being one piece of weaponry.

This week’s look is accompanied by:

Shorts: Jet Jeans that I cut off, a ballet top underneath the Hot Tank, my beloved Jeffrey Campbells, a bracelet I got at one of my old buyers in OC Pretty in Pink, a ring from Crossroads, and another ring from Tropicali in SB.  Now I have my arsenal to get me through this crazy work week and feel good every step of the way.

Trend Report : Solstice Time!!

This weekend we Santa Barbarians throw the biggest party of the year, and that is SUMMER SOLSTICE! In honor of my favorite weekend, I put together a rad outfit to hula hoop all day in and to celebrate the official beginning of summer.

“The CMND-Z Prophecy” Women’s Razorback Tank

My deepest desire to bring all the empowered and passionate women of the universe together for the greater good was what inspired my Summer Collection and this “CMND-Z Prophecy” tank.  I believe that we artists and creators must team up and fulfill our destinies by sharing our dreams and thoughts with the world.  My prophecy…the goddess will reawaken and rise if we are true to ourselves as we grow and prosper.

It’s All About the Arts

Last week I went down to LA to meet up with a sales rep friend and showroom owner at the Cooper Design Space in downtown LA.  It was market week so the hussle and bustle was so fun to be around.  Before I headed downtown, I stopped in Venice to visit my dear friend  and stylist Veronica who has helped me with CMND-Z from the very beginning.  The culture and lifestyle in Venice is so rad, I felt right at home in all its elements.  For my day trip, I styled myself in a new shirt I made the week prior.  It is printed on my organic cotton reversible perfect tee.  We mixed a mustard yellow and printed the “Go Back to Art” design on one side and the CMND-Z Prophecy on the other side.  My fav part about this tee is that you can wear it either way, front or back.  So, this particular day I wore the shirt with the scoop in the back, so it is dramatic and flattering when you turn around.  I paired my new CMND-Z tee with my Jet Jeans cutoff, vintage heels, and jewelry from my Grandma and from one of my fav stores in SB called Tropicali.  A perfect combo for my LA Market trip

Princess & Protector

Pairing my flowy “Universe Protector” top with a very feminine golden headdress designed by Emma Sirena gave my look today an Indian Princess like sensation.  The Message behind the Universe Protector…love yourself, protect the beauty of the universe and all that inspires you.  You can find my “Universe Protector” Bat Wing top and more looks from the CMND-Z Summer 2012 Ethereal Collection here.

Our new “Evolution Calendar” Reversible Perfect Tee

Story behind it:  I designed my own sun dial based on the beautiful Mayan Calendar.  Inside the wheel are my days and my weeks.  The evolution of the CMND-Z woman is around the calendar.  She evolves from the goddess celestial star to a nautilus, to a tree, to an owl, a black panther, a mermaid, and last to modern day woman.  And then she cycles back round again.

The art in the Summer Collection is based on these ancient mayan ideologies, myths, and belief systems.  We also know that the mayan calendar ends in 2012.  The Goddess reawakens this summer.  She is taking over.  Now see everything she believes in here
